Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is tired of Nicki Minaj recycled raps and wants her to get some new material. On his podcast Dray Day, the power forward called out Minaj for her excessive use of LeBron James name in her raps.
Is Nicki Minaj gonna mention ‘Bron in every song,” he asked. “Every song she’s released since June 2016, there’s something about LeBron in it. I mean, damn, like, LeBron is great, but Jesus Christ, at some point it just becomes…too repetitive. Jesus Christ, you can’t mention ‘Bron in every song you do.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Green’s comments come shortly after the release of Minaj’s latest track, “No Frauds,” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. On the track, she raps, “They say numbers don’t matter but when they discussin’ the kings / They turn around and say LeBron ain’t got six rings.”
Nicki has always had a slight obsession with the current king of court even before 2016. Here’s a brief list of her songs that mention King James.
“Before the storm comes the calm. Hope you can take the heat like LeBron.” – Nicki Minaj feat. Kanye West, “Blazin”
“Even if you was Curry, b—-, there’s still a LeBron But let’s face it, I’m Curry, with rings like LeBron, added my rings up, that’s Mike Jordan.” – DJ Mustard feat. Nicki Minaj and Jeremih, “Don’t Hurt Me”
“Every baller tryna score, check them shot clocks, but I hit ’em with them ‘Bron-Iguodala blocks.” – DJ Khaled feat. Nicki Minaj, “Do You Mind”
“No Frauds,” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. On the track, she raps, “They say numbers don’t matter but when they discussin’ the kings / They turn around and say LeBron ain’t got six rings.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Swalla,” Jason Derulo’s new single. “I’m in the cherry red foreign with the brown guts / My sh*t slappin’ like dude did LeBron nuts.” The line also alludes to the incident that got Draymond Green famously suspended from a game in the 2016 NBA Finals. ⠀⠀
Maybe Draymond has a point Nicki, it may be time for a new punch line.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
