Kesha Drops Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Against Dr. Luke In Los Angeles

There’s a surprising turn of events in the Kesha, Sony and Dr. Luke saga. is reporting that Kesha has asked a judge to dismiss her California lawsuit alleging Sony producer, Dr. Luke, sexually and mentally abused her. This doesn’t mean that Dr. Luke is completely off the hook, however. A similar case still remains ongoing in New York.

The reason for Monday’s dismissal of the Los Angeles case is due to Kesha wanting to get her new singles and an album released despite the strained relationship with her producer’s label. Her attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, spoke on the case stating that the dismissal was filed so she can focus. Her case that is still pending in New York, where she also sued the producer for allegedly drugging and raping her.

Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, has denied Kesha’s allegations and accused her of suing in an attempt to obtain a more lucrative record deal.

Petrocelli said Kesha recently handed over 28 new songs to Dr. Luke’s record label, Sony Music. “We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible,” Petrocelli wrote in a statement.

Kesha is also appealing two rulings in New York that have kept her from breaking her contract with Dr. Luke’s label. Supreme Court Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich stated that Kesha’s rape and abuse allegations couldn’t move forward because the alleged incidents happened outside of New York and fell outside the statute of limitations.

To this day, Dr. Luke has not been charged with a crime and has consistently denied he abused the famous pop star. His lawyers state that during sworn questioning in another lawsuit in 2011, Kesha said Dr. Luke “never made sexual advances” toward her or gave her the date-rape drug known as a “roofie.”

He has since sued the singer for defamation, and that case is as of now pending.

Kesha’s former lawyers said she was too afraid at the time of the deposition to speak up.

Dr. Luke has produced some pretty big hits over the last 10 years and is most known for working with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson and Nicki Minaj.

We hope this situation cleans itself up soon. It’s just tragic on so many levels.
