Malia Obama proves she’s just like the rest of us — she loves a good party.
While Barack and Michelle Obama brought down the house at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia earlier this week, with their epic speeches, the 18-year-old headed to Lollapalooza in her hometown of Chicago, where she turned up with close friends.
In a series of choppy clips and images snapped by festivalgoers, the recent high school graduate proved that while she lives under a watchful eye in the White House and has the most famous parents in the world, she likes to have fun — even if that fun includes suits, aka Secret Service (who accompanied Malia dressed in khakis and plaid shirts).
According to a clip captured by fellow Lollapalooza attendees, the first daughter is a huge fan of Cashmere Cat. In fact, the teen was captured letting loose and dancing to the Norwegian musicians’ set in a brief (and shaky) video clip posted via Twitter.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the Harvard-bound student has attended the popular music festival that features popular alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip-hop and EDM. In 2014, she was spotted partying like a rock star at Chance the Rapper’s set.
Obama showcased her love for urban music in 2015, when she rocked a T-shirt repping Brooklyn’s very own hip-hop collective, Pro Era, sending social media into a tizzy. Considering we’ve watched Malia grow into a classy, beautiful young woman, we’re just happy to see her begin to live life like a normal teenager and unwind. After all, next fall, she heads to college.
